For those that may not be familiar with the event, Torry and Terrence Holt, both NFL products established the Holt Foundation which "...assists with improving the quality of life for children and families that are dealing with cancer..." (1) For additional information on the Holt Foundation, click here. As part of their foundation's effort, they run an annual football camp each year and have added a seven-on-seven competition to the mix. The overall event is taking place both today and tomorrow and will include players and schools from here in the state as well as Virginia and Georgia. The event is taking place at Eastern Guilford High School, which happens to be the alma mater of the Holt brothers.

According to the official press release from the event the following teams are expected to be in attendance.
Eastern Guilford (NC), Dudley (NC), High Point Central (NC), Page (NC), Williams (NC), Cummings (NC), Parkland (NC), Southern Alamance (NC), Jordan (NC), Southeast Raleigh (NC) and GW Danville (VA) (as well as a team from Georgia)
Looking over this list, depending on who the Falcons will play, there is a solid mix of not only quality programs but top notch coaching, especially from a passing oriented event. Burlington Williams is led this year by former Leesville Road heavyweight David Green while GW Danville is coached by former Reidsville legend Jimmy Teague. Add to the mix always athletic Burlington Cummings and Coach Jay Perdue calling the offensive shots and a projected top tier program led by David Washington at quarterback for Southeast Raleigh and coached by Daniel Finn and you have a solid event from start to finish. Nick Stevens and the folks at HighSchoolOT.com have a ton of information specifically on Southeast - here is just a bit.

We'll be interested to hear how the Falcons perform as there is no doubt they'll be tested!

ReplyDeleteLooks like they did quite well. Reports are that both sides of the ball performed well against the competition they faced. We'll have an article up in the next day on some additional details.
