We have our first go at some power rankings that we like to call, 'The DurhamFBFan PAC-6 Power Rankings'! That's a lot to say, but there is a lot of info that goes into these rankings so that only makes sense.
Actually, for those interested, we look at win-loss records for each team and we also evaluate how their competition fared. If they defeated a team and the team they defeated has also done well they get 'power points' that are representative of how the opponent has done. There are a number of other ways that folks are rewarded or penalized depending on the level of competition you face. I would add, it's good to win your games, so when you look at Southern, even though they have played some tough competition, the points they receive for playing those games is not nearly where it could be if they had won the games.
The big question of course...What can we get from these rankings? Humm, I would say that it gives you a rough estimate of how each team in the PAC-6 compares. Teams that are far apart, speak to overall strength and weakness. Teams close together, even if one has won a number of games and another has not, speak to the competition that each has faced.
Here we go - Be Kind!
