Hornets at Knights - Radio Game of the Week (11/5/2010)

For those that listened into the 99.9 FM/620 AM/HighSchoolOT.com Game of the Week with Lee County taking on Panther Creek this evening, it was announced that next week's game of the week will be at Durham County Memorial Stadium to air the conference championship game between Hillside and Northern Durham.  After hearing this information a check of the ESPN Triangle website revealed that the Garner and Harnett Central game was listed as the game of the week, but according to the broadcast, with the highly anticipated match-up of the Knights and Hornets occurring, the game of the week will be in Durham this Friday night.  Make sure to pass the word and let's fill the newly renovated County Stadium to show off the Bull City and two deserving programs!

In our weekly playoff breakdown reports [Selection Saturday (2 Weeks) - PAC-6 Playoff Picture & More] we've detailed the possibilities of how the conference could breakdown from a seeding and playoff perspective and we'll go into more detail this week based on what happened this evening.  But for the moment, with Southern's victory over Northern this evening, the possibility has been created that a Northern win next week would create a three-way tie for first in the conference.  If this were to occur, a random draw would take place to establish the order of finish in the conference.  All three teams would be named officially PAC-6 conference champions, but based on the random draw, the order for playoff seeding purposes would be created.  This becomes a huge point of interest because in this scenario a Hillside team with a final 10-1 record and 5-1 in conference (9-1 reportable record) could conceivably be named the third place finisher in conference and be in the position where they may have to go on the road in the first round of the playoffs.  Yes, I did say that, Hillside could be on the road in the first round at 9-1...it's clear that next weeks game is not simply huge for conference finish, but could be a significant point for the playoffs overall.

Check back later this upcoming week for your definitive and informative breakdown of the PAC-6 conference.
